You will hear management say to CP dealers,

“You are making more today than you ever have”.

Well that is not true!

First of all, we may be making more "tips" than we have before, but

Our base pay hasn’t budged in decades!

We remember the "raises" of FOUR-CENTS-PER-HOUR!

What a slap in the face!

And as for the increase in tips let us say this, twenty years ago (after all areas were pooled together by management) a dealer at CP was making $60K-per-year.

Today a CP dealer is making about $85K-per-year. Okay, that looks like we are making more, but in reality we are not.

A house, loaf of bread, gallon of gas, gallon of milk, dozen eggs etcetera, all cost upwards of three times what they cost twenty years ago!

With that in mind, if we were now making more than ever at CP, then

we should be making at least $180K-per-year,

three times what we were making then to compensate for the triple digit increase in the cost of living,

if we are to be "making more than we ever have".

We are not even close!

While the cost of living here has went up approximately 300%

Our tip income has went up a mere 41%!

Has our base pay risen at all?

Has it increased over $2 in the past twenty years?

Yet our employer brags every quarter that they are making record profits!

Who is making those profits for them? The workers like us are!

Where is our part of the record profits? Are we not part of the business equation?

We are looked at like nothing but a “cost” to them

and they do everything that they can to cut their costs,

including our benefits.
