VERY IMPORTANT!! There has been a new Insurance Bill passed that has been made into >>>"Temporary Law"<<< that will have devastating financial implications on all of us! The law allows employers to charge TEN PERCENT of our GROSS INCOME for health insurance coverage! Maybe this explains WHY last October when we all had to sign up for our new health insurance that it was for a ONE-YEAR POLICY and that come
Ten Percent of the gross income of someone who makes $85K-per-year works out to $354 per pay period and that is BEFORE dependants are added on or BEFORE deductibles and co-pays! Some of you say, "We enroll every year for insurance, that's no different than before", well that's not correct. We only enroll for insurance when we have changed owners and go to new coverage. It just seems like we do it every year because we have changed owners so many times in the last decade or so. Usually, when we have the same owner for consecutive years there is an "Open Enrollment Period" for people to make changes to their insurance and add new dependants and such. Yes, we have been sold again, but the new owners have not officially taken over, therefore, we are not having to re-enroll in October because of them. Then why?
We have to pay more for our coverage (unlike some union workers who get their health insurance provided for FREE) and our deductibles and co-pays are skyrocketing! Why?! So that CP/Harrah's has to pay less and we pay more is why! They are taking from our pockets so they can record their "record profits" each quarter. Do "record profits" help us as workers? NO THEY DO NOT! They help achieve those profits by taking away from us, and health insurance is one way they increase their profits when they make us pay more! An increase in profits equals an increase in
We can provide a chain of "e-mail messages" between a certain State Assemblyman and the Head of the Nevada Department of Labor to show you how they are perceiving the new health insurance bill. It's not a pretty read! Contact us and request it and we will forward the e-mail to you.
This is a direct link to the new Bill (with the crucial part about health insurance highlighted in GREEN by us) and also a link the the Nevada Labor Commissioners (NLC) website (click the "Temporary Minimum Wage Regulations (effective 4-10-2007 to 11-1-2007" link on the NLC page to go to the Bill that way as well). Yes, the bill says "The employee’s share of the cost of the premium cannot exceed 10%" and some of you may say "They will never take it up to that cost", but where are we guaranteed they won't? They can and they will! They do everything that they can to increase their bottom line to help try to achieve their "record profits" each quarter! You want to trust them? The same people who continually take away from us?
There is only one way to guarantee we will not pay 10% of our Gross for health insurance, that is with a CONTRACT!!!!
There are examples on this web site where they have already taken away from us (including tokes) and how our CEO is one of the highest paid in the industry and how much he stands to make on the current take-over. It's absolutely mind-blowing and we are paying for it!
If they truly cared for us they would provide Health Insurance coverage to all non-union employees for FREE like at the Venetian and with other Union workers who work for Caesars Palace. If they truly cared for us they would not use the "Point System" to try to reprimand and fire their employees! If they truly cared for us they would give floor-supervisors back their semi-annual bonuses! We are just an expendable number to them! They have no compassion for us or for our families! This is why we must organize NOW, before it is to late and they implement their policies! Key Links:
