UNION PROPOSAL: Article
9: PAID TIME OFF
Section 1.0
Bargaining unit employees shall be entitled to paid time off (PTO) for
use for vacations, holiday and sick leave and to supplement short term
disability pay. Section 1.1
PTO shall be earned for all hours worked, plus hours taken for PTO. PTO
shall begin accruing on the date of hire and may be used at the completion of
the first 90 days of employment. Section 1.2
Available PTO shall be indicated on employee’s paycheck in a manner
which is understandable. Section 1.3
PTO shall be accrued as follows:
Section 1.4
Jury Duty and Bereavement Leave are not part of PTO and will not reduce
the number of PTO days available. PTO
shall be earned while on jury duty and bereavement leave and during time when
the time out when the employee is being paid including on PTO. Section 1.5
PTO may be taken after the employee has completed 90 days of employment.
PTO must be taken in whole hours. Section 1.6
Once per year, employees may sell back a maximum of 40 hours of PTO. This
request may be made any time of year. Payment
will be made with the usual tax withholdings.
A PTO request from must be completed.
PTO sell back checks will be run on Wednesdays with the early vacation
checks. Section 1.7
Upon separation from employment, an employee with the company at least 90
days will be paid out 100% of unused PTO. Section 1.8
To obtain approval for use of PTO, employees will submit a PTO request
form to the department through HR and Payroll.
The form should also be submitted to the employee’s supervisor
at least 2 weeks in advance of the date requested. Section 1.9
Employees who work at least 6 hours or more of their shift and leave due
to lack of work will be credited with the full shift for PTO accrual purposes. Section 1.10
Employees who volunteer for days off due to business demands shall have
the option to charge the day to PTO or take as unpaid. Section 1.11
PTO may be carried over from year to year up to a maximum of 46 days or
368 hours. Once the maximum has
been reached, PTO will be paid out for hours over the maximum. Section 1.12
PTO requested during Blackout dates or limited vacation periods shall be
approved in seniority order on a rotating basis.
