WE are the Union!

From a Pussycat Doll Dealer 12-8-07:

I heard from a source outside of Caesars that if we don't vote in the union, that management will take our tokes like Wynn did, the next day. I may be new to the gaming industry, but I'm certainly not going to like that. Management thinks we are all stupid but we are not. JW said he hired all of us, well he will have a hard time getting rid of us if the union gets voted in, I'm voting for the union.

RESPONSE:

ATTA GIRL!!!!

We know that you ladies are all very smart and will not fall for their BS tactics. We know that you all know without a Union you could be all fired tomorrow. We know that you are with us!

UNITED WE STAND JW!

CAESARS PALACE'S "PROMISES MEAN NOTHING"!

STAY FOCUSED, STAY STRONG, STAY UNITED!

TOGETHER WE "DEAL"!

Vote "YES" on 12/22/07!

From a Day Shift Dealer 12-4-07:

In the meetings we recently had, where we went up in small groups, and got to listen to Jimmy Wike bad rap the union, saying the same old lies, that we know are lies, I have to think that he's obviously hoping that there are still some of us out there that are still oblivious to the truth, and therefore, will believe him. We know the FACTS though, but, obviously he doesn't.

He brings up how just because a single eccentric individual like Steve Wynn did what he did to the dealers tokes at Wynn, that we shouldn't panic, and think that Caesar's would do the same thing, because they at Caesar's Palace, had no intentions of doing what Steve Wynn did (even though Caesar's refuses to put it in writing, with a signature). What Jimmy Wike forgot to mention was that, whatever this single eccentric individual by the name of Steve Wynn did in the past, everyone in town always followed suit eventually. Let's talk about the service industry. How has that changed? How many people's lives did that affect? How did their income change? Who was the first to get rid of Showroom Maitre'D's? Steve Wynn. And if you went to a show, and sat at your table waiting for the show to start, didn't waiters or waitresses take your orders for drinks or bottles of champagne and serve them to us? Where are these Maitre'D's, and servers now? Did they get fired, or placed somewhere else in the casino? either of which definitely impacted their income. Steve Wynn was the first to change all that, and guess what, everyone followed. Now, when you go see a show, you buy a ticket, like you're going to a movie theatre, then you stand in long lines to buy a drink, and then you carry your own drinks to your numbered row seat.

Jimmy Wike says we should believe in him and in Harrah's, even though they won't put anything in writing. If you mean what you say, there should be no problem putting it in writing, with a signature. Jimmy Wike brings up how great our money is, but what does that mean to us, when a lot of us come into work everyday wondering if this will be the day we get fired. If this will be our last day. There was a time, when the only way you could get fired from your job was if you were caught stealing, or you were caught drinking, or doing street drugs or drugs that were not prescribed for you, on the job, and I think, and I'll stand corrected on this if I'm wrong, if you committed a "crime", and were arrested by the police outside of work, and that may be up to the discretion of the employer and the crime committed. Well, all that has changed. Now, if someone doesn't like you, they can make you a target, and you can get fired over stupid things like mistakes, insubordination, too many points (and you can get points you don't even know you're getting, until they decide to tell you, and for things as stupid as clocking in a minute early). You can be fired now, for just disagreeing with someone from upper management, or trying to tell your side of the story. Bottom line, you can get fired for anything now.

Pussy Cat Dealers, please beware, because you are one of us. We do not harbor ill feelings towards you. It's always uncomfortable when you are new to a job. I have been at Caesar's for many years. Not a lot of people talked to me when I first started working at Caesar's. I sat by myself for a long time, in fact, I ate out of the vending machines for a month, because I didn't know where everyone went to go eat, and I was too afraid to ask someone. One day I finally overheard two dealers say they were going to go eat next break, so I followed them. It wasn't because the dealers were so unfriendly, it's the nature of how it is being new. Talk to the one's you may have felt bad vibes from. Help protect your future, as we're trying to protect yours and ours, and those who will continue to deal, long after we retire. Believe me, you're all young and beautiful, but there will always be younger and beautiful girls ready to fill your spot in the years ahead, and what if you aren't one of the favorite few in the next 2,3,or 4 years from now? and they target you? who will protect you? What if you get married or have a baby, and you can't lose the weight fast enough for upper management? What if you just naturally put on 10 pounds over the next year or so, and management doesn't think you look as good in your uniform as you use to? Do you think management will say that's o.k, we'll just make you full time or keep you part-time and you can just deal in a regular Caesar's shirt from now on and keep your job? Maybe .... if you are lucky enough to be or continue to stay one of the favorite few further on down the road. If not ..., Who is going to protect you then? The union would, but not upper management. Without the union, we have no protection. We are at the mercy of upper management, with our only prayer being that maybe they don't hate us enough to fire us.

Jimmy Wike says how we shouldn't let bad feelings, or our anger at anyone in management want us to vote for a union, because we have a real good thing going on at work right now, since we make good money, they're building a new tower worth over a billion dollars (which I can't for the life of me figure out what that has to do with our working conditions now or later) and that we should believe in them, and not let this union vote be a distraction at this time of year during the Christmas Holidays, because it should be a time of year shared with our friends and family. Speaking for myself, and other dealers who I think feel the same way as I do, I personally can't think of a better gift to give myself, my family, and my friends, during the Holidays than to vote YES for the union, so that we don't have to worry about the threat of financial woes and job security, and really have cause for celebration due to the fact that because of the union we can continue to provide and put a roof over our families heads, without the usual constant doubts and fears that have been our constant shadow, that is and has always been lurking in the back of our hearts and minds, since Jimmy Wike came in and Harrah's took over.

RESPONSE:

Many who are outside looking in think that we are doing this because we are "greedy" (like the J.O. who writes/owns the "Dealer's News" and who also makes his living from the casinos where he sends temps to. He then also charges the Dealers $450 if they happen to get hired by one of the jobs he sent them out to. Like he isn't worried about the Unions ruining his business that takes advantage of Dealers? Right. Maybe he is afraid that the Union will place a Dealer in a job better than he can?). Well it is not about "greed", but about security, just as the Reader has pointed out. Yes, everyone can use more money, even the highest of high rollers. And keeping our jobs and tokes secure is not about greed, but about being able to ensure we can pay our bills, which is tough to do if someone gets fired because someone didn't like they way they looked today or was perceived as a "threat" to their "control". No, it's not about "greed", and anyone who thinks it is must be greedy themselves.

We will say one thing that CP DID put into writing, and that is the Poker Dealers are excluded from our vote (but they CAN organize as well, just not with our group), yet they have tried to imply that we may have to pool with them. We will soon be providing everyone with the "signed" stipulation to prove, in a signed binding legal Federal agreement, that they can not do that. Proof that what they are telling us is lies.

CAESARS PALACE'S "PROMISES MEAN NOTHING"!

STAY FOCUSED, STAY STRONG, STAY UNITED!

TOGETHER WE "DEAL"!

Vote "YES" on 12/22/07!

From the Organizing Committee 12-1-07:

This is for the Pussycat Dealers:

Hello Ladies! We would like to address several points about something to all of you, and that is the separation between the "old time" Dealers and you Ladies.

First of all, when management called the first "mandatory meetings" concerning the current Union drive we have going on at CP, were any of you invited to attend? No you were not. Why not? The question, "Where are the Pussycat Dealers" was even asked by the other Dealers in those meetings. Yes, we were concerned why you ladies were not present and why management chose to exclude you all. After all, you are ALL Dealers at Caesars Palace.

Next, in your "captive audience" meeting yesterday (Friday 11/30/07), were ANY of you invited to attend a meeting with the "old time" Dealers? No you were not.

IT IS MANAGEMENT WHO IS TRYING TO SEPARATE US! That is VERY obvious. While you were all in the "Training Room", what was said to any of you about the "old time" Dealers? Was anything at all said to you all about them? We know it was. That was just the beginning of management trying to divide us.

In actuality, the "old time" Dealers have said many times that they would like to be the ones in the Training Room teaching you ladies how to deal and the intricacies of the games and career. But instead, you were all trained by someone who is in management. Why is that? There are plenty of "old time" Dealers who have said they would like to assist in the training who could/can teach many things that have been learned through their vast years of experience, things that could some day save your job. Think about that please.

Mr. Wike made the statement "The only reason the "Old time" Dealers are talking to you now is because of the Union drive". Well, that is totally untrue. Think about it, are there any of you ladies by chance dating any "old time" Dealers? Also, ask any Dealer who has been hired at CP in say the last ten years, "How long did it take for you to integrate with the "old time" Dealers?" You may be surprised by the answers you get. The answers will be very similar to how long it has taken you ladies. And those Dealers, when new to CP, were veteran Dealers at the time!

Also know this, there was the possibility of "excluding" the Pussycat Dealers from the Union vote. Did we? No we did not. Why not? Because we DO want you here. We DO want you all to have the same benefits as we do. You were all included in the vote because we want you to be one of us. We were not "forced" by CP to include you ladies in our Union vote.

Pussycat Dealers realize this...YOU ARE DEALERS AT CAESARS PALACE...PERIOD. WHY is management trying to divide us so?

CAESARS PALACE'S "PROMISES MEAN NOTHING"!

STAY FOCUSED, STAY STRONG, STAY UNITED!

TOGETHER WE "DEAL"!

Vote "YES" on 12/22/07!

From a Full-Time Dealer 11-1-07:

I heard that if a Pussycat Dealer has a broken fingernail that they get written up. Is this true?

RESPONSE:

We have heard this too. Any Pussycat Dealer care to respond?

Please, make sure you print a TWU Authorization Card fill it out and mail it in today. Tell your friends about this site! Print extra copies for them!

From a Full-Time Dealer 10-25-07:

I would like to use this forum to thank the PCD dealers and part time dealers who have already signed TWU cards and hope that the rest will soon follow.

We must all be told of how Harrah's laid off all the cocktail waitress at the Rio they where NOT in the union, and replaced them with Bev-a-tainers who are on short term contract and can be replaced at will.

I would like to see all of the PCD girls and part timers dealing at Caesars for as long as they wish and to be able to transition into regular uniforms at their choosing rather than being shown the back door by management.

RESPONSE:

We too would like to thank all the PCD girls and part-time Dealers! We share your vision!

Please, make sure you print a TWU Authorization Card fill it out and mail it in today. Tell your friends about this site! Print extra copies for them!

From a Full-Time Dealer 10-22-07:

This, is for all the pussycat dealers. I'm sure you all remember one of your dealers Summer. She, had some problems with a deranged boyfriend coming in and causing problems. Instead, of management backing up their dealer they finally decided it would be easier to just fire her. How is it her fault some nut case won't listen. This, is the type mentality we have had to deal with for way to long. It sure would be nice to have someone stick up for you in these type of situations. It's time for us all including you to say enough is enough it's just time. Please, fill out your TWU cards today.

RESPONSE:

WOW! We were not aware of the PCD who was fired for a circumstance beyond her control! If we were Union we bet that would NOT have been the result! Shame on whoever made that poor decision!

Please, make sure you print a TWU Authorization Card fill it out and mail it in today. Tell your friends about this site! Print extra copies for them!

From a Full-Time Dealer 10-2-07:

COME ON ALL MY FELLOW DEALERS AT CAESARS! Stand up and be proud! For those of you that are just beginning in the gaming industry -HELP US FIGHT FOR YOU- most of us will be out of the business in the next 5 to 10 years but we have seen the greed of the corporations- take -take- taking from us. JOIN TOGETHER AND BE STRONG!! PROTECT YOUR FUTURE.
Some of you may not think you will be in the gaming industry very long. Most of us thought the same thing when we started out. I love my job! It's unique! I love Caesars Palace! No matter who owns it. But now is the time to protect the benefits you have. Let's not forget Steve Wynn always setting a precedent. Do you think he will lose? Are you willing to risk your livelihood on a chance that the Supreme Court will rule against him. LOL! Look at all the casinos that are joining in- don't wait- be a part of history. TOGETHER WE CAN BE A POLITICAL FORCE AS WELL!! SIGN A TWU CARD TODAY AND MAIL IT!!!!!

RESPONSE:

We know that many of the "new" Dealers are in a life that they only imagined. Some may need to even pinch themselves to see if it is true.

We have some advice for all of you.

First, save your money and buy a house. You will need it for the tax write-off. Don't waste money on rent when you can actually own. We know you want all of your "toys" too, and that is fine. But we have seen many ruin their lives because they didn't handle their cash properly. We are not trying to be your parents, but only concerned friends.

Next, you really should consider signing a TWU card. There is only one way to protect what you have and that is to join the Union. Go to other casinos and talk to those Dealers. They would give most anything to have your job. Look at the ages of the Dealers in other places. You have so much more than them already, set yourself up to keep it or you may be working someplace you will regret in the future. Look at the Union as an insurance policy on your job, just like your home and car.

You all have the opportunity to protect your future now. If you pass this opportunity, it would be like passing the original opportunity you had when you first got the job.

Please, make sure you print a TWU Authorization Card fill it out and mail it in today. Tell your friends about this site! Print extra copies for them!

From a Wynn Dealer 9-17-07:

As a former Caesars dealer and a current Wynn dealer I am troubled by some of what I am reading on this site.
There seem to be a few distinct groups within Caesars, specifically the PCD, the Pussycat dealers and the regular dealers.
People if you are to be successful and get a union this must stop. Everyone in those groups must take a look at their paychecks and they will notice that they all say "Caesars." There is no difference.
What? The PCD think they are better than everyone else. They are not. The only thing different about them is geography! They deal in a different part of the casino. That is all!
Also, they should remember that they can be removed from there just as they were put in there. They have no claim to that place. They have no contract to deal in the PC.
And the Pussycat dealers are in the same boat. The just deal in a different pit.
It is important that everyone realize this or you will fail. You all work for the same company under the same conditions.
Finally, let me tell you why I left Caesars and went to Wynn. Harrah's has the reputation of "cutting to the bone." The just cut, cut and then cut some more. And then when they get to the bone they extract some marrow. Someone has to pay for all of those big, fat bonuses.
The only thing for sure is that you will be the ones getting cut. Do you think that Loveman had anything even remotely relating to his benefits cut? Do you think he took a pay cut or his break room is not cleaned? Do you think he gives up his parking spot?
NO! NO! and NO!
Stand united or you will surely die apart!

RESPONSE:

When the Reader writes, "There seem to be a few distinct groups within Caesars, specifically the PCD, the Pussycat dealers and the regular dealers." Unfortunately this may be somewhat true. It is NOT how we want it though. We can't speak for the PCD Dealers, but for the most part the Dealers at Caesars Palace WANT to include them into our fold.

What everyone must understand is this, at Caesars Palace the Dealers have had "toke by-laws" in place for 40+ years (not saying the rules are that old, they have been updated throughout the course of time). We want to be able to enforce those rules without management's interference. We want to maintain control over our tokes just as we have always done until Harrah's took over and started telling us what to do with our tokes. Every Dealer throughout the history of Caesars Palace has had to abide by these "by-laws", again, until Harrah's took over. There is a procedure set to have the by-laws changed by the Dealers. The by-laws are fair for everyone.

What created the "division" if you will, between the PCD Dealers and the "regular" Dealers was management's interference with our by-laws pertaining to how the PCD Dealers were paid. The PCD Dealers are new to Caesars Palace and were not aware of our set by-laws. They were hired by Caesars Palace and assumed that they were being treated just like any other Dealer at Caesars Palace. They were not aware of management's interference with our tokes. We are sure that if management would not have interfered with our by-laws regarding tokes, that the PCD Dealers would have readily accepted those same by-laws as has every other Dealer who first arrived at Caesars Palace. So, as a result, the PCD Dealers have been innocently "put in the middle" of something they had nothing to do with.

The "veteran" Dealers at Caesars Palace have MUCH they can teach the PCD Dealers about the gaming business and would love the opportunity. In the end, it would benefit each and every one of us. Every "field" has "master technicians", including Dealing. We should all open up to each other and realize we are in the same boat. So, PCD Dealers, instead of sitting within your group of PCD Dealers on break, go sit with a "regular" Dealer. Join us and you will find when you do it over and over again we will become one. If a PCD Dealer is seeking advice about something on a game, ask a veteran dealer, they will be more than happy to help you if you just ask. Also, the "regular" dealers must take the same actions, go join the PCD Dealers on your break. Talk to them, listen to them.

We recall a "feedback" from a Dealer who made reference to "retiring in 20 years". If the average age of a PCD Dealer is say 24, think about this. You have started your dealing career at the top, there is nowhere to go but down (yes there are a few casinos now that are on par with Caesars Palace, but they are all still the top). So chances are if you are going to stay in the casino business you will remain at Caesars Palace for your entire career. Okay, with that said, you retire at say 65. That is FORTY-ONE YEARS at Caesars Palace! Grab hold of that! 41-YEARS! See the "old" Dealers? That will be you. YOU will become the "veteran Dealers". Learn what you can from the "masters" to make your trip easier, then one day you will be considered the "master" and others will be looking to you for advice. Secure your future now while you have the chance. Stand with us. Or as the readers writes, "Stand united or you will surely die apart!"

Please, make sure you print a TWU Authorization Card fill it out and mail it in today. Tell your friends about this site! Print extra copies for them!

From a 21 Dealer 9-14-07:

Dear Fellow employees, please do not sit on the side line, we need your cards. I know that every one is laid back and wants to see what happens at The Wynn. Dear dealer and co-workers please get of you duffers and mail your cards in. We need them. If we do not receive about 70% of the cards we will not have a election.
So please I urge you to get off your duffers and mail your card in.

So please I urge you to send in your cards. We will be together for-ever.
Please Pussy Cat dealers start purring. I know you are young now, but you will age, and when that happens this HARRAH'S will treat you like crap.

RESPONSE:

We are receiving cards every day that were printed from this website. The website was initially put up on August 21, and we received the first cards August 23 and have received cards every day since. We will not divulge the number of cards we have received until the TWU makes the decision to petition the NLRB. Then we will only give the cards to the NLRB and Caesars Palace WILL NEVER KNOW who signed a card. The Union nor will the NLRB EVER give out that information. So, until that time comes, just assume we have yet to receive an ample number of cards, and we just may be needing one more card, and that card could be yours.

The reader is correct by saying that we need every Dealer at Caesars Palace to sign and send in cards. They are also correct when mentioning about the Dealers who are sitting back to watch what happens at The Wynn. That "move" could be YOUR downfall, and every Dealer's at Caesars Palace, and if you are one who is taking the "wait and see" approach, and if Caesars Palace does something as drastic as Wynn did to his employees, who will be to blame? It will not be the ones who had sent in their cards.

By the way, we would like to make mention of a "rumor" here. One of the groups of Dealers from another casino who recently contacted the TWU told them their casino is making preparations to use their tokes to supplement their floor's pay. We won't say which casino yet, but it is a very good source. If they do it there too, who will be next? Caesars Palace? Very well could be. And if we do not have enough cards to petition the NLRB if/when Caesars Palace makes that decision, we will loose our tokes to the floor. Is that what we want to "wait and see" if it happens? That my friends is YOU playing with your income and your families security. If/when it does happen, we will know who to blame, and it will NOT be Caesars Palace. Please encourage your friends to send in their cards ASAP so we can get the process rolling.

As for the Pussycat Dealers, well the reader is also correct in pointing out that it was US who paid you your tokes while you were all learning the games, NOT management. It is/was the veteran Dealers at Caesars Palace who provided you with those checks you have never seen the likes of before in your life. Management only paid you minimum wage! It was/is the Dealers at Caesars Palace who is paying you (yes we realize that you are making tips as well now, but remember, if you want to make $300-per-day, you have to drop that amount yourself every day. That's how it works). PCD Dealers, we are NOT your enemies. As time goes by, it will be evident who your real enemies are, and it will be proven to NOT be veteran Dealers. We want you all to drop as much money as possible so we all benefit, just as you all benefited by us paying you while you were learning the games.

Please, make sure you print a TWU Authorization Card fill it out and mail it in today. Tell your friends about this site! Print extra copies for them!

From Nevada State Assemblyman Bob Beers 9-4-07:

I applaud your efforts. If the owners and boards of companies treated their employees with the same concern they gave themselves no unions would be needed. Sadly, this is very seldom the case. I brought forth Assembly Bill 357 because one man thought his wealth placed him above the law. He thought his power could prevent the formation of a union in his property. An overwhelming vote of YES proved him wrong.

RESPONSE:

Dear Assemblyman Beers,

We too applaud your efforts in standing up for the tip-earners of Nevada! Thank you for taking time from your busy schedule to visit our website.

Note to the readers of this website: Assemblyman Beers will stand up for the working men and women of this Great State. We hope all of you will support his efforts as he supports ours. There are links to the Nevada Legislature and to the Assembly roster on our Table of Contents Page for those who would like to get a bit further into the issues.

From an Pussycat Dealer 9-3-07:

I love the website! I have heard the dealers talk about it, so I thought I would check it out. I knew there were issues the older dealers had, but I didn't realize there were so many. These will be my issues eventually if we don't do something now. I am very much for the union and you will have my support! I know I am young and pretty right now, but this may be my job until I retire and I know I won't always be young and pretty (at least I hope I will be, but I know we all get old). I want the Union there for me as I age. I want to keep this job and I know the Union can help me do that. Who knows, maybe someday someone will not want me here anymore and get rid of me. Where will I be then? Yes, the Union is a good thing and it is for me!

RESPONSE:

Wise woman! We couldn't agree more!

Please, make sure you print a TWU Authorization Card fill it out and mail it in today. Tell your friends about this site! Print extra copies for them!

From an Swing Shift Dealer 9-3-07:

Come on Pussy Cat dealers please join us we are WAITING for you

They are correct. We have over 50 Pussycat Dealers and only ONE wants to speak here?

Please, make sure you print a TWU Authorization Card fill it out and mail it in today. Tell your friends about this site! Print extra copies for them!

From an Ex-Harrah's Dealer 9-2-07:

I worked for the Flamingo for over 17 years. I watched how the corporations changed all the good things to bad. When Harrah's took over I knew it was time to leave. I have been a dealer for well over 26 years and have always said we needed a union. I praise you for doing what your doing and only wish I was still in the business to vote for it. Now live in North Carolina so can't be much help. I have seen them fire for no reason, lost all benefits and to those "new be
dealers" you are just a number. Stick up for yourselves, or you will one day be a statistic
like some of the oldies who know what's best..
I congratulate you for what your doing.
Hope all goes your way.

RESPONSE:

We want to thank you for your support! We wish you were here to join us! Hope life is good for you now.

From a Pussycat Dealer 9-1-07:

Please can someone tell me how much the union bartenders and cocktail waitress make per hour.

RESPONSE:

We have heard several different things on this. We have heard they START OUT somewhere between $11 and $13 per hour. We have not heard what their "cap" is though.

Also, the Culinary and Bartenders receive FREE HEALTH INSURANCE paid for by Caesars Palace! One of their MANY Union benefits they negotiated.

Please, make sure you print a TWU Authorization Card fill it out and mail it in today. Tell your friends about this site! Print extra copies for them!

From a Pussycat Dealer 8-22-07:

I would like to say that you guys did an excellent job on this website! My vote is for the union. I believe that if we don't take some kind of action now, there is no telling what is going to happen in the future. Working conditions will only get worse at Caesars, they are not going to treat us any better unless we stand up for ourselves. We have to think about the future, are you willing to gamble with yours? If we continue on the way we are going it won't matter how long you will have worked here, if someone doesn't like you tomorrow, you are out the door and you won't be able to do anything about it. We need rights and to have someone stand up for us! I hope you are all with me, because it is the only way to secure YOUR future!

RESPONSE:

We are happy to have you onboard! You are absolutely correct in what you have said! We know that many of the PCD Dealers are relatively "young" compared to other Caesars Palace Dealers, and the PCD Dealers just may be at Caesars Palace for decades to come.
