After months of
legwork, the Tip Pooling/Taking Policy at WYNN LV
will go to hearing at the Labor Commissioner's Office on March 19 at 9am.
A complaint was filed
about six months ago stating the 'illegality' of the new tip pooling policy at
the Wynn.
The Labor
Commissioner accepted the complaint and forwarded it to the Wynn's attorneys.
They were 'generally denying the allegations and requesting that the
complaints be dismissed'.
The Labor
Commissioner did not dismiss the complaints and said 'The issues presented in
the claim present a significant public policy question that needs to be
resolved'.
We, the tip earners
of
Nevada
, should be happy to have these issues officially being heard in the proper
venue.
As the hearing gets
closer, updates will be sent out.
No matter where you
work in
Nevada
as a tip earner, this hearing concerns you. If WYNN
LV
can take the tips from an employee without permission or an agreement and give
them to other employees/managers, then any employer in the State of
Nevada
can do the same.
RESPONSE:
In a show of
SOLIDARITY, we think that EVERY DEALER in the State who is available should
ALL go to the Commissioner's Office at 8:30am and stand outside of the
Offices, on the street and in the parking lot, during the Hearing.

To all dealers who
are battling for your futures:
There has still
been some talk about the wait and see theory and anger over the stolen tokes at
Wynn, but there are many more ways to steal our income than toke redistribution.
Dealers have been being stolen from for many years without taking into account
the scared line Mr. Wynn carried the corporate flag over.
When every
industry and every employee in America is getting a wage "cost of
living" increase, and the most profitable industry ignores its dealers,
that is just like walking in our front doors and stealing from us.
When corporations
whom make money off it's employees health care premiums, raise those premiums
and decrease its benefits, that is stealing right from our pockets.
When they find
ways of taking our sick days and our holidays, that is stealing from our
families.
When we are
cheated out of overtime we are being stolen from.
When we are forced
to work our days off, our dignity is stolen from us.
Marilyn Winn stole
from everyone when she came up with the idea to cut everyone's 401Ks in half.
She was rewarded with her BIG JOB and MR. Loveman received a big bonus, while
our families futures were stolen from.
There are many
more like Marilyn Winn, with ingenious ideas of ways to steal from the dealers,
and they plan on being rewarded for it.
Please remember as
you are all going trough your own organizing campaigns, these corporations have
no problem lying cheating, and breaking laws to be able to continue stealing
from you.
The Hotels have
spent Millions on professional liars and cheaters and have given them free reign
over their properties.
Remember, we are
professional skilled laborers and deserve to be treated as such.

#11 A Harrah's LV Dealer 2-7-08:
Anyone interested
might want to read an editorial appearing in the NY Times Feb. 07 titled "A
Hopeful Year For Unions." The article stated that wages in the U.S. are 10%
lower than they were in 1973 after adjusting for inflation. Also the share of
national income devoted to wages and benefits is at it's lowest since the late
1960's. Mentioned also was a bill that died in the Senate in June last year that
would have made it easier for unions to organize workers. I believe the bill
would have stopped employers from using threats or other aggressive tactics. Who
do you think your legislators represent.? The gist of the article is clear.
Workers are getting an ever smaller piece of the economic pie and that trend
will only continue unless we unite.

In response to #10
on the Lake Tahoe page.
We are still on shift-for-shift, and our managers have taken the opposite
stance. They have been leading swing shift to belive that that if they DO send
in their cards, then our tokes would change to 24 hours.
Do you see how they like playing football with our tokes? THEY CONTROL OUR TOKES
RIGHT NOW, but they can't yet take them. If you want to know if they'll take
them like Steve-O did, then just wait and see...

Response #10 is
from an unidentified casino Dealer (evidently not Tahoe).
We see some common
theme though, you shift managers are threatening to take away shift-for-shift
if you vote the Union in. Fact is though, once the Union is voted in, they can
change NOTHING. Federal Law. Any changes would have to come through
negotiations, from either side, Dealers or management.

I have heard that
management on SWING shift has told dealers that if they DO NOT send in their
cards requesting a vote for union representation that he would see to it that
tokes go back to SHIFT FOR SHIFT. Swing dealers MUST NOT be influenced by this
false promise. This is just another shot at manipulating desperate dealers by
someone who has the reputation of being less than forthright anyway. And have
they considered what would happen to those of them who are low on seniority and
would be force to another shift? WE'RE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER PEOPLE. GET A CLUE!
RESPONSE:
We
are not sure of the casino where this Reader works because they listed all of
the casinos on our list. But because their post illustrates how management
will make "FALSE PROMISES" we are posting it under all of the
Feedback pages.
As
we read on the Mirage Dealers website, they can tell you they will give
everyone a free trip to anywhere in the world if you vote no for the union.
Then, if the vote fails, do you think they will follow through?
We
know that Shift-for-shift is what some Dealers would like, but then there are
those who don't like it. It doesn't matter. Fact is they will NEVER do that.
And even if they did, what does that show? THAT THEY
ARE CONTROLLING YOUR TOKES ALREADY!!!!!!!!!! Do not
think for a second they will not seize your tokes if the State gives them the
"green light"!

Wake up everybody
, before it is too late. These Corporations want you to "wait and
see", wait and see for what? Wait and see if they could legally
redistribute your hard earned tokes. don't be foolish send in your cards today
and beat them to the punch. United we stand.
RESPONSE:
Management says,
"Wait and see what kind of contracts they get at CP and the Wynn. Want
those two casinos to get a great contract? You can help. How? By sending in your
TWU A-Card today and get a vote for the Union and then by voting
"YES". If EVERY Dealer in LV were to join the Union, we guarantee that
ANY contract will be a great one.
Right now the
corporations look at the Dealers at CP and the Wynn as just being
"rebels" or "disgruntled" or "outcasts". Well they
are Dealers at two of the best jobs in town standing up for the Dealers of this
city and are being the Leaders that we really need. We don't need someone who is
taking away from us, lying to us, tell us half-truths to be our leaders. We need
stand-up people as our Leaders. Let's follow them down the path to security.
Let's not "wait and see", let's get behind them and create a body of
one.

#8 A Caesars Palace Dealer 1-28-08:
Fear
is a strong and powerful emotion, and sometimes dictates our actions in life.
Please don't wait and see what happens in court with the Wynn dealer's, and how
our contract goes at Caesar's. You need to protect yourself now, before it's too
late. I know that at both Wynn and Caesar's no one has been fired because of the
union. I know that because we voted in the union, what we have right now can not
be taken away, and it doesn't matter if Steve Wynn wins his case in court or
not, we are protected, because of the union.
We will now have dealers at the negotiating table, concerning our tokes, health
care and seniority issues, and many other things ..., and we will not negotiate
for less than we have right now.
We
also have rights that we didn't have before. We can no longer be called into the
office alone, and be questioned, or be given disciplinary action, and be forced
to accept whatever management dishes out. We are now allowed shop stewards to be
present, other dealers, like us, with the same power as management, to represent
us, and ask questions, investigate, see tapes, etc ... on our behalf. We get to
be heard finally, instead of just going to the office in total fear. If a shop
steward isn't available, management has to wait until one is, to be able to
speak to you. All this, just for voting the union in, without a contract being
signed yet, and no dues being paid. How strong is that ? What are you waiting
for ?
Ask yourself this : If you don't send in your card, because you are afraid,
and/or you think this will stop management from harassing you, or you vote no
for the union, because you think that will make management happy, and they'll
leave you alone, or be so grateful, they'll keep their word, THINK AGAIN. You
are dealing with corporations. That alone says it all. Do you think if you
"Sit and Wait", or vote "NO", your tokes will stay the same
or get better? they'll improve your health care package ? they'll start going by
seniority ? They will do what they want, because you have no rights or
protection.
Without a union, it will just get worse. Send in your cards today. I know you
all see the writing on the wall, don't let fear get in your way. You have
nothing to Lose, and everything to Gain. I have this dream that all these cards
just come pouring in, and every casino votes union, one after another, showing
our solidarity and strength, letting these multi-billion dollar corporations
know, that here, The Dealers of Las Vegas, are unified, and will no longer
tolerate being at the mercy of corporate harassment and greed, and that we are
human beings, with families, and rights, and not just a number. Think about it.
Wouldn't that be something ?

Hey future brothers
and sisters,
I am a Wynn dealer. I want everyone to truly understand just what the devil
himself (Steve Wynn) has done at Wynn Las Vegas.
Our tokes are picked up at 4 in the morning by security. Then they are taken to
soft count where (at different times everyday) are counted by non-dealers. We
don't even get to see them. The next day they come with a total. At first, we
got to know how much of every color was dropped. That stopped when we noticed
that chips were missing. 16 yellows one day. One time even 35,000 in flags.
($5,000). Now there is not even a count of each color just a toke sheet.
No one has stood up for us with the exception of Bob Beers and the TWU.
Greed has taken over this town by the corporations and we are just a number now.
Not even human beings in these corporations eyes. Steve Wynn had it made. He was
paying us $6.15 an hour and working us the first year 6 and 7 days. We were
still smiling though because we liked our jobs and were making good money for
treating his customers with the best in customer service. Still that wasn't
enough for him he had to steal our money.
Now I want everyone to think about what Steve Wynn has done in this town and how
many hotels have followed his lead. Don't be naive, they will follow if we lose
in the Supreme Court. It saves the hotels millions by taking our tokes and
paying their management. I sincerely think that he is planning to eventually
make dealer salary and it won't be high either.
We have to stick together and make the TWU powerful so that these cheap
corporations will listen to us. Think of the power if we all come together.
Stick together and Stay Strong. It's easier than you think!!!!!

redistributing to employees on your property, but look what has happened at The

Dealers, we know you
are hearing that the TWU will come to your homes and ask to talk to you, not
true, or that the TWU is nothing but baggage handlers when they control every
train, subway or bus route in NYC, no easy task I can assure you.
How about the TWU
being started by Communists... Ha! They will stop at nothing.
Hey, how about this
one, "what does the TWU know about dealing?" The TWU has thousands of
years of knowledge as soon as the Wynn and Caesars dealers joined and will have
thousands more when you join. Let me ask you this one, how much dealing
experience does Gary Loveman have and he is representing all Harrah's
dealers?
How about this
one," in negotiations you could win some things or lose what you already
have"??? Would you vote for a contract that gave you less than you have
now... any of you? Crazy corporations!
How about the one
were the NYC President Roger Toussaint was thrown in jail for breaking a state
labor law? What they didn't tell you was that labor law wouldn't let them strike
for a better contract in NYC but, they did anyway! They shut down the city and
got the best contract in TWU history! I pray that we have a president willing to
go to jail for us! D. Taylor, President of the Las Vegas Culinary, has been
arrested over 30 times for his people! That's the way it works, sometimes you
have to act up to get what you want but, only when you have the numbers behind
you.
I like the one about
the TWU losing members? This statistic was taken after an airline merger and TWU
members were taken in by another union.
How about the NYC TWU
losing money? The state judge, an antiunion appointee, fined the TWU 2 million
and stopped direct payment from members pay checks for union dues, disrupting
their flow of money.
The lies never stop
and they will keep coming so, do your research on anything management says.
At your captive
meetings you can ask questions or you remain silent, they have no questions or
answers for silence. Then, come to this site and bomb the shit out of them!
Remember, during the
election management is not allowed within 75 feet of the polls and can not be an
observer! You will win the election if you make sure to get all of your yes
votes out of the house and to the polls on their day off.
We have the passion
and fire in our hearts and it will show and blow you away after the election! It
sure did at Caesars! We thought it would be much closer than it was but,
wow!

#4 A Caesars Palace 21 Dealer 1-15-08:
As a dealer at
Caesar's Palace, I must admit, that although I knew we needed a union more than
anything, I was afraid that if I signed a TWU card, everyone in the world would
know, especially management, who I was afraid of the most, so I was very
reluctant to send one in. PLEASE DON'T FEEL LIKE I DID ! The sooner you get your
cards in, the faster you can protect yourselves. MANAGEMENT WILL NOT KNOW OR
FIND OUT, UNLESS YOU, YOURSELF TELL THEM, AND EVERYONE ELSE YOU DID.
If you want to remain anonymous, be careful who you talk to. Management, I have
learned from experience, with what we went through, will go to all time lows,
even breaking federal laws, and buy off people, dealers that you work with, to
spread rumors and lies on their behalf, to spy on you and report everything back
to them. Unfortunately, some of us here at Caesar's learned this out the hard
way. People we had always thought were our "friends", or someone we
had always got along with, ended up being our worst nightmare.
I was also one of those dealers who was afraid to write in and leave feedback or
ask questions on the website. I definitely didn't trust it. I figured, if I say
or ask anything, someone will somehow trace it back to me. I will definitely be
fingered out. PUT THOSE FEARS TO REST. I decided to trust someone at work, and
let me tell you how hard that was, but I knew the character of this person, and
had known him a long time. He told me without a doubt I could write things in anonymously
and not worry, so I took a shot at it. He was right, nothing happened, so I did
it again, and well, whenever I felt the need to say something, I'd sit at the
computer, and type another feedback, and then another, etc .....
If you have something to get off your chest, or something to say that you feel
will help your fellow dealer, THEY NEED TO HEAR YOUR VOICE. If you have a
question, something you don't understand, the webmaster will always answer it
for you. WE ARE HERE TO HELP YOU. Whatever you are going through, We at Caesar's
and Wynn have been there, done that, and want you all to know you are not alone,
and we're with you every step of the way.
The only time management was nice to us, was during the union drive. Before that
? Nope. During the union drive they were so nice and so concerned for our well
being it was kind of creepy. Of course their main concern was the union we
picked, which was of course TWU721. Any union but that one would have been fine
with them they said. They said we should wait, and at least try and pick a
better union to represent us. We weren't falling for that "we should
wait" game. Please don't let their "WOLVES IN SHEEP'S CLOTHING",
fool you right now.
They are going to really bad mouth TWU721. Everything they will tell you, they
have already told us, and we were able to discredit every single thing they said
about TWU. We can show you all the paperwork that proves what management says
about TWU is a lie, but I have to say something very important :
You will find that everyone at work has an opinion. The one's for the Union, and
the one's against the union. You are going to find out that there are tooooooo
many opinions, and then you are going to go on overload. You want the FACTS ? Do
what we did at Caesar's. When management tells you something, and gives you
their paperwork, etc .... look it up. It is ALL public record. Anyone has access
to it. That's how we found out management lied to us about TWU. The paperwork
they'll give you, the slideshows, and their version of the story is the complete
opposite of the truth. You'll be getting letters in the mail, doing your captive
audience meetings, literature at work, from management, etc .... and opinions
will be flying. The website is always available for information, with links to
information of public records, and if you get too confused and overloaded, I
told you how to find the truth and facts for yourself.
Bottom line : Are you really happy with the way things are right now ? If not,
then you need to realize, it's not going to get better, only worse, and
management is only going to be nice temporarily. Do you think if you vote no for
the union, that they'll give you a better healthcare package? job security ? Go
by Seniority ? Protect your tokes ? We are dealing with Corporations. Every
year, has it been getting better, or a little worse each time ? Wynn set a new
precedent, and if he wins in court, do you think the CORPORATIONS won't follow
in his suit sooner or later ? I think sooner. If you don't protect yourself now,
it will be to late. Corporations are Corporations.
Management will tell you that your 401k, tokes, etc..., will be affected if you
vote union. That is not true. I can't begin to tell you the number of lies you
will hear, that they will make sound pretty convincing, but they will be lies
none the less. What I really loved is when they kept bringing up the Frontier
Contract. They will point out everything that the Frontier Contract had in it,
how bad it was, and as they go down the list, you realize that, that is exactly
what you have right now. It's too funny ....
What has TWU done for us now ? It has allowed us to protect ourselves from what
happened to the Wynn dealers, whether or not he wins his case, because we have
put ourselves in the position for the dealers to be at the negotiating table. It
has made things at Caesar's STATUS QUO. Everything stays the same, nor can they
take anything away from us. We are protected, and this is without a contract.
How strong is that ? Are we going to negotiate for less than we have now ? NO.
This will be our first contract. We don't expect to get everything that someone
in the culinary union has, or any other union has, that has been a union member
for many years, and has signed many contracts, but we know we won't sign a
contract for less than we have now, and hopefully we will get back things that
we once had, that were taken away, like better health care, seniority, toke
protection, etc ... which is a start, and better than knowing that next year
without a union, it will again, be just a little bit worse.
That is why it is so important for all of you dealers to send in your cards
today. The stronger we are, the stronger our union is, and the stronger our
union is, there is no telling what we can do ..., but if we just stand there,
and watch Steve Wynn win his case, and watch all of the other casino's follow
suit, because they will. Corporations would be foolish not to. They would do
anything to save a buck at their employees expense. We will all be nothing but a
distant memory, like a tumbleweed, blowing in the wind, with no one to blame but
ourselves, and why ? Because we were afraid ? We weren't sure ? We were confused
?
STAND UP AND BE COUNTED FOR ! VOTE YES FOR THE UNION ! YOU'VE GOT NOTHING TO
LOSE !

Since
we have given several casinos their own "Feedback" pages we are
seeing some very common themes between them and the Dealers of Caesars Palace.
So, this week what we plan on doing is bringing back ALL of the original pages
posted on this website during the Caesars Palace campaign. This way all of the
new visitors from all of the different casinos can browse through them all and
hopefully get some answers to their questions. We will announce here where all
of the pages will be once we load them back up on the website. We hope this
helps.

Dealers here and to
the north our time has come and that time is now! The only way to truly and
permanently effect change in our work place is to unite ALL dealers! The way to
the casinos wallets is through the table games. Once we have an overwhelming
majority of dealers unionized, is when we have the ability to impact the casinos
bottom line. Look at the Culinary Union's 60,000 member. When they take a strike
vote (which takes 50% + 1 of the members votes) the casinos take a collective
gasp in fear! If they fear the walk out of maids, porters and cooks then think
how much they'll sweat when we have the same power? You can bet they're thinking
about it and they are scared to death! Only when we unionize all or at least the
majority of casino dealers could we confidently call for a strike, ensuring
absolute victory! The strike vote is the true power that the casinos fear.
Individually we don't have this power and that's the way the casinos want it .
That's why the Frontier got a weak contract. Because we didn't rally behind
them. But remember, they did get a contract and even the worst contract in the
world is still a contract in the world! It's a start and every unions first
contract is just a first step! That's why they are asking you to "to wait
and see what happens at the Wynn or Caesars." If they can keep us
separated, then they have weakened us. They are trying to stop the "end
game," TOTAL DEALER UNIONIZATION, the situation they fear the most and the
situation that holds the key to our futures! As long as we don't see this the
casinos are safe but, that's changing as we speak. More and more casinos are
unionizing and the veil of ignorance is being lifted from our eyes. We are using
the internet to educate ourselves and not taking the lies management is feeding
us as fact and do they ever lie!
We are each, in a sense, experienced and seasoned pilots but we are treated like
flight attendants. Without our skills (remember most of us deal multiple games
that took years to master) the planes are grounded shutting down the skies. This
situation would crush the casinos costing them BILLIONS a day! They can replace
one of us or hundreds of us but, they can't replace 10,000 of us and they can't

I just wanted to
commend Rumpelstiltskin for his ever changing and growing website. My fellow
dealers, you should be so thankful that we have someone that is willing to
donate his/her time for the benefit of all. I just wanted to say thank you and
EXCELLENT WORK.
The internet has
been "KEY" in this union drive and will continue to be so. It
affords dealers the privacy some need to stick up for themselves but I hope
dealers all over town will stand up and say" YES- I WANT UNION
