WE ARE THE UNION!

Have you ever asked yourself, "Why doesn't management want us to form a Union"? What kind of answers do you come up with? "It will cost them more money" is the most ridiculous one we have heard. How will it cost them more money? By paying you more? By increasing your benefits package? By you having to pay less for your benefits? Do we owe them something the rest of us are not aware of? "It takes away the individuals ability to solve problems one-on-one with management" is probably the second most ludicrous reason. Do you know anyone who has negotiated a pay raise or better benefits, by themselves, that we don't know about? "They don't want a strike or slowdown" is also a strange answer. If we are being treated fairly by them, there will never be any reason to strike. That shouldn't be a problem, right? As long as they follow the rules that they agree to in a collective bargaining agreement, there should never be a strike. "Unions take away their authority" is not true. Just because a worker is in a Union and is covered by a contract, the worker still has to abide by the contract and perform their job as it is expected. A Union is NOT a "free pass" to do whatever a worker wants to do whenever they want to do it. "They can't control who works for them" does have some validity. However, for a worker to get hired in the first place they must meet certain job requirements (or used to have to). With a Union contract though it makes it more difficult for management to fire at will because they didn't like a person's looks or whatever. "Because they treat all their employees fairly and look out for each one's best interest" What a crock that one is! Just read the "Issues" on this website and all of the other topics, and you will see there is nothing further from the truth in that statement. If anyone has a valid reason WHY management doesn't want their workers to form Unions, please CONTACT US with that information ASAP so we can get it cleared up right here and right now.
THEY ARE IN "UNIONS"! If management doesn't approve of their workers forming Unions, then why are they themselves in a Union of sorts? The top casinos all belong to the Nevada Resort Association and also the American Gaming Association. Yes, these are not "Labor Unions", but they are "Associations", clubs if you will, where they all mingle together and discuss all strategies of their business. Strategies such as "Human Resources", "Policies", "Procedures", "Law", "Players Clubs", "Security" and virtually every aspect of gaming and employee relations. These associations act much like Unions when there needs to be policy changes. They hire their lobbyists to have laws changed or added. They "collectively bargain" with Federal, State and Local governments! One company representative says, "This is the way we do it at Caesars Palace" and if the rest of the companies see merit in the way something is done, they follow suit. Call these organizations what you want, but in reality they are "Corporate Unions"!
